Prof. Dr. Cem' i Demiroğlu

Prof. Dr. Cem 'i Demiroğlu was born in Istanbul in 1927, completed his secondary and high school education at Pertevniyal High School and graduated with first place. Demiroğlu, who graduated from Istanbul University Faculty of Medicine in 1943-1949, entered the Istanbul Faculty of Medicine, Department of Treatment and Pharmacology as an assistant in 1951, and became an internal medicine specialist in 1954.

Demiroğlu, who worked in the Cardiology Clinic of the Faculty of Medicine, Germany Bonn University between 1954-1958 and carried out many scientific studies, returned to Turkey at the end of 1956 as the first person to bring catheters and cine angio devices to Turkey.

He served as the Dean of Cerrahpaşa Faculty of Medicine for two periods in 1973-1976, 1976-1979, and was elected as a Member of the Interuniversity Board in 1974 by the Istanbul University Senate. In 1979, he established the Istanbul University Institute of Cardiology, which he completed with a new regulation and took over as the President.

Elected as the Rector of Istanbul University on 30.05.1980 by the absolute majority of the faculty members, Prof. Dr. Cem'i Demiroglu; Between 1981 and 1983, he was the Chairman of the Interuniversity Board. He was appointed as the Rector for 5 years on 31 July 1982. He was appointed as the Rector for 5 years again in 1987: In 1991, he became a Member of the General Assembly of Higher Education; In July 1992, he was elected to the Rectorate of Istanbul University again.

Glessen University Medallion for him; Honorary Doctor of Munich University and Tashkent University: In 1994, he was awarded the German Presidential Grand Order. prof. Dr. Cem'i Demiroğlu has a total of 155 works, including 120 domestic and 30 foreign publications and 5 books as summary of research and papers.

He was the Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Turkish Cardiology Foundation and Group Florence Nightingale Hospitals, of which he was the founder, and also the Chairman of the Board of Trustees of Kadir Has University. He passed away on 17 July 2002.
